What’s in a name?

on Friday, 29th April, 2016

What does your name mean, who gave you your name? Names were the topic of Oasis FAN this week – such an interesting meeting with friends from Albania, Bangladesh, Sudan, Russia, UK, Iran and Hungary finding out more about names. Who chose names – grandparents certainly are important here; fathers often chose for boys and mothers for girls; if names are usually shortened and your name is used in full – it generally means trouble! some names were not liked as teenagers but were fine as adults; we had names meaning a precious stone and a beautiful moon, and one name came to a father in a dream! Oasis FAN meets on Wednesdays at 1pm at Oasis 69B Splott Road, Cardiff, CF24 2BW – we’d love to see you there.
